Oxidative Degradation of Azo Dyes in Aqueous Solution by Water‐Soluble Iron Porphyrin Catalyst

Textile and food industries produce a significant volume of effluents containing azo dyes other pollutants. These are serious environmental threats, new methods for their treatment the degradation thus attracting much attention. The current study deals with oxidative by meso-tetrakis(1-methylpyridinium-4-yl)prophyrinatoiron(III), [FeIII(tmpyp)], meta-chloroperoxy benzoic acid (m-CPBA) in aqueous solution at room temperature. catalytic was investigated using rapid-scan stopped-flow spectrophotometry as function pH, [catalyst], [m-CPBA], [dye] [surfactants]. To obtain mechanistic insight, reaction between [FeIII(tmpyp)] m-CPBA also studied absence dyes. Spectral analyses kinetic data show that is transformed into transient intermediate [FeIV(O)(tmpyp)].+ (a compound I analog) within 20–30 ms followed formation relatively stable [FeIV(O)(tmpyp)] II analog). Batch experiments reveal dye rate influenced pH concentrations m-CPBA, dye, surfactants. On basis spectroscopic data, scheme steady-state equation proposed. products resulting from amaranth have been analyzed HPLC-UV-HRMS.
